Employeur

The university of Bordeaux is a great dynamic and responsible university that cares about the well-being of its staff. Joining us means working in a privileged environment within a particularly diverse and open professional community, benefiting from welcome and inclusion schemes, training and internal mobility. It means participating in an academic, scientific and human adventure. It means committing to meeting the challenges of the 21st century.

Join the Institute of Molecular Sciences (ISM) – University of Bordeaux!

The ISM brings together a community of organic chemists and physico-chemists interested in molecular structures, working on their design, synthesis, characterization, reactivity and analysis in various environments. The expertise of the Institute is based on a number of key skills: theorists in quantum chemistry, molecular and reaction dynamics, synthetic chemists, physico-chemists (spectroscopy, photochemistry, molecular recognition and analysis), working in 10 research groups and 3 technical platforms.

As part of the CoCat-Light project, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR), we are recruiting a post-doctoral researcher in organic chemistry W/M.

This project focuses on the self-assembly of co-catalysts from photoredox/HAT catalytic processes. It aims to study and develop an innovative supramolecular photocatalytic methodology to generate, under mild conditions and with unprecedented efficiency, chlorine atoms by monoelectronic oxidation of chloride ions.

Votre mission

You will be in charge of the methodological development of a photocatalytic process and the study of the reaction mechanism.

# Photoredox catalysis

•       You optimize the catalytic conditions

•       You study the extent of the reaction

•       You carry out reactions under pressure

# Mechanistic study

•       You carry out kinetic studies

•       You determine association constants

# Photoreactivity

•       You characterize the photoreactivity of complexes

•       You carry out analyses using vibrational/electronic static and transient spectroscopy

•       You conduct DFT calculations

# Organic synthesis

•       You synthesize substrates

•       Based on our preliminary results (Chem. Int. Ed. 2024, e2024022964), the main objective of the project is the development of photocatalysts for the functionalization of alkanes.

•       You carry out the development of photocatalytic systems allowing the functionalization of alkanes under mild conditions and with high selectivity chemotherapy

•       You carry out a comparison of the activity of the systems developed with those in existence.

You contribute to the scientific dissemination of results within the research group and through articles.

Vos atouts / Vos talents

Holder of a PhD in organic chemistry, you ideally have already worked on photoredox catalysis for the functionalization of alkanes or on a similar subject.

•       You are rigorous and autonomous in your work

•       You demonstrate good communication skills

•       You are proficient in organic synthesis, photoredox catalysis, and optical spectroscopy techniques.

•       You are proficient in English (level C1 / B2) in a multicultural work context

Do you recognize yourself? Apply!

More information:

By joining this project, you will be integrated into the Organic Nano-Structures (NEO) and Molecular Spectroscopies (GSM) research groups that work, among other things, on the development of new molecular and supramolecular architectures for catalysis, and the development of vibrational spectroscopies for the study of reaction mechanisms. You will be supervised by Jean-Marc VINCENT and Thierry TASSAING.
