Jessica Fouilloux-Thomasset, Professor of Finance, was appointed Vice-President for International Affairs by Dean Lewis, President of the University of Bordeaux, in April 2026.

With an academic background in mathematics and economics, Jessica Fouilloux-Thomasset obtained an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (DEA) in Market Finance from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

After gaining initial experience in the financial markets working at various banks, she moved into research by undertaking a PhD on modelling the risk premium within the term structure of interest rates.

Following her initial appointment as a Senior Lecturer at Rennes 1 University in 2009, she joined Paris-Saclay University in 2016. Having successfully passed the competitive top-level teaching examination in management sciences, she was appointed professor at the University of Bordeaux in 2017.

Her research focuses on finance and organisations, particularly the integration of environmental issues into finance. Her work also addresses the management of risk and uncertainty in investments related to the energy transition and the reduction of emissions. Finally, a more recent area of focus is the organisational resilience of universities from a public and strategic management perspective.

In terms of teaching responsibilities, she teaches financial engineering, structured finance, sustainable finance, and research methodology and practice, giving particular focus to the international outlook of her courses, including through several mobility schemes under the European ENLIGHT alliance.

Jessica Fouilloux Thomasset holds various teaching and administrative responsibilities: member of the National Council of Universities (2015–2017), HCERES research expert, pathway and specialisation lead (2018–2022), finance research team director (2020–2022), member of the management board and subsequently Vice-President for Teaching at the French Finance Association since 2022, Deputy Head of the IRGO laboratory (2022–2026), Deputy Head of the Faculty of Law, Political Science, Economics and Management at the University of Bordeaux with responsibility for resources (2022–2026) and lifelong learning (2025–2026).

In April 2026, she was appointed Vice-President for International Affairs at the University of Bordeaux.

This role represents an opportunity to help grow the university’s influence, both within Europe and internationally, on the basis of the academic excellence, cooperation and the mobility of our entire community.
