The university of Bordeaux is a great dynamic and responsible university that cares about the well-being of its staff. Joining us means working in a privileged environment within a particularly diverse and open professional community, benefiting from welcome and inclusion schemes, training and internal mobility. It means participating in an academic, scientific and human adventure. It means committing to meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Join the Cardio-Thoracic Research Center of Bordeaux (CRCTB)! This research unit, composed of 3 teams, aims to combine clinical and basic research to advance the understanding and treatment of cardiothoracic diseases by promoting collaboration between scientists, clinicians and industrial partners.
As part of the MICROCOSM research project, included in the Priority Research Equipment and Program (PEPR) Organs and Organoids on a Chip (MED-OoC), we are recruiting a Researcher or Postdoctoral Fellow in organoids and organs-on-chip W/M.
Our project aims to develop a multi-organ-chip platform to predict COPD patient responses to biologics and choose the most effective biologics.
You will be involved in the development of the multi-organ platform integrating lung (bronchial and alveolar) and muscle cells to reproduce the pathophysiology of COPD.
You will notably interact with our partners (F. Mallogi, K. Perez-Torralla, CEA Saclay) for the development of the microfluidic chip, work on the integration of primary patient cells and on the validation of the device based on biological criteria.
Finally, the device will be used to test the response of patient cells to biotherapies. This response can be linked to the clinical data of patients followed at the CHU de Bordeaux. You will also participate in the project coordination.
During the mission you will be led to practice:
• Culture of primary lung cells and/or skeletal muscle, in 2D and within a microfluidic device
• Functional measurements: transepithelial resistance, muscle contraction
• Inflammation level measurements: RT-qPCR, ELISA, bioplex
• Immunocytochemistry, imaging and 3D reconstruction
• Flow cyrtometry
• Single-cell transcriptomic
The + of this position: you will be integrated into the "COPD" group of the Bronchial Remodeling team. This group focused on the physiopathology of COPD is a young and dynamic team of about 10 people, led by Isabelle Dupin. We have recognized expertise in pulmonary physiology and pathophysiology and develop 3D in vitro models based on innovative cell culture and imaging techniques.
Holder of a PhD in Cell Biology, Physio-pathology or Bio-engineering, you have significant experience in the field of organs on chips or 3D models at least, a solid scientific profile attested by a good level of publications.
• You are open-minded
• You demonstrate a sense of communication to work in interdisciplinarity
• You master primary cell culture, ideally on lung and/or skeletal muscle
• Knowledge of "omics" imaging and analysis techniques is appreciated
• You are proficient in oral and written English (C1 level) in a multicultural work context
