The university of Bordeaux is a great dynamic and responsible university that cares about the well-being of its staff. Joining us means working in a privileged environment within a particularly diverse and open professional community, benefiting from welcome and inclusion schemes, training and internal mobility. It means participating in an academic, scientific and human adventure. It means committing to meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
Bordeaux Neurocampus is among the leading European research centers in neuroscience, spanning from molecular to clinical levels. Join the Sleep, Addiction, Neuropsychiatry (SANPSY) unit!
The Addiction team of the SANPSY laboratory studies addiction in humans through both fundamental mechanistic research and clinical studies. Using wearable digital tools (smartphone applications, wearable sensor devices), the team specializes in the study of behaviors and risk factors in real-life settings. Its research covers both substance-related (tobacco, alcohol, illicit drugs) and behavioral addictions (gambling, internet, etc.), supported by strong collaborations with local and regional addiction care services.
In this context, we are looking for a Research engineer in data analysis W/M.

You will ensure the quality, structuring and valorization of data, and perform advanced statistical analyses: multilevel models for longitudinal EMA data, extraction of characteristics/features from physiological data (signal processing), as well as modeling in machine learning.
# Data Management and Structuring
• Centralization, organization, and documentation of multimodal databases (EMA, physiological sensors)
• Implementation of data management pipelines (import, merging, longitudinal structuring)
• Ensuring data traceability, quality, and security
• Contribution to the development of Data Management Plans (DMP)
# Data Cleaning and Preparation
• Detection and processing of outliers, missing, or inconsistent data
• Temporal synchronization of EMA and physiological data
• Transformation and creation of derived variables (features)
• Standardization of datasets for statistical and machine learning analyses
# Statistical Analyses (R)
• Conducting descriptive and inferential analyses
• Development of multilevel models for longitudinal EMA data
• Contribution to scientific reports and publications
• Data visualization and reporting
# Advanced Analyses and Machine Learning (Python)
• Feature extraction from physiological data (signal processing)
• Development and validation of machine learning models
• Implementation of reproducible analysis pipelines
• Evaluation of model performance and interpretation of results
Holder of a Master’s degree or a PhD in Neuroscience, Mathematics, Cognitive Sciences, Psychology or Biostatistics, you have a solid experience in statistics and the translation of scientific questions into statistical analysis strategies.
• You are rigorous and autonomous
• You demonstrate initiative, proposal strength and know how to identify the appropriate analytical approaches to answer complex research questions
• You are endowed with a proactive and innovative mindset
• You master R and Python
• You like to learn new skills
