The University of Bordeaux is a large, dynamic and responsible university, attentive to the well-being of its staff. To join, means working in a privileged environment within a particularly diverse and open professional community, benefiting from reception and inclusion mechanisms, training and internal mobility. It is participating in an academic, scientific and human adventure. It is committing to meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
You want to participate in a research project parasitolgy?
Join the Université de Bordeaux’s Microbiologie Fondamentale et Pathogénicité (MFP)!
The objective of the MFP unit is to improve understanding of host-pathogen interactions related to disease replication and development, from molecular interactions to epidemiology and the development of antimicrobial approaches. The MFP currently consists of nine groups working in virology, bacteriology, parasitology and mycology.
As part of the TrypaDiff project, funded by the National Research Agency, we are recruiting a Post-Doctoral researcher in biology.
This research project aims to study the role of glycerol metabolism in the differentiation of slender forms (proliferative, non-infectious for the insect vector) into replicative or non-replicative infectious forms for the insect vector.
Your mission will consist of:
- characterize the new parasitic forms induced by glycerol
- determine the biological relevance of these parasitic forms by studying their roles in vivo and in vitro
- characterize the signaling pathways involved in their glycerol-induced differentiation
Thus you will be in charge of:
# Cell culture
• Trypanosomes culture
• Differentiation of parasites in vitro
• Cellular analyses: IF, Westerns blots, etc.
# Multi-comic analyses with platforms
• Proteomics
• Metabolomics
• Transcriptomics including 'single cell'
# Analysis of candidate genes
• Screening of an RNAi bank
• knockdown and conditional overexpression by RNAi
• KO and epitope tagging using CRISPR-cas9
Holder of a PhD in the field of biology, you have already completed cell culture and molecular biology.
• You have notions of parasitology
• You demonstrate autonomy, good organization and great rigor
• You are proficient in English at the B2/C1 level
More information:
By joining MFP on this research project, you will be fully integrated into the Intermediate and energy metabolism of trypanosomes (iMET) team. You will be supervised by Prof. BRINGAUD, leader of the TrypaDiff project. This research group specializes in the study of trypanosome metabolism, including the impact of glycerol metabolism on the parasite cycle.
