[10 years] The transitions dynamic at the University of Bordeaux

Updated on:

Since its creation, the University of Bordeaux has been committed to environmental and societal change. Within its administrative services, research departments and teaching components, a large number of players are contributing to this process by carrying out ambitious long-term projects. Spotlight on this dynamic of change with a visual timeline of the key milestones.

With its 6,000 members of staff and 54,000 students, its 580,000 m² of buildings and 140 ha of green spaces, the University of Bordeaux is aware of the weight of its environmental and social responsibilities, not only within its own territory, but also on a national and international level. Determined to do its part, the university is striving to integrate these issues into its fundamental missions of training future citizens, scientists and professionals, and of research, in partnership with the French government, local authorities and businesses.

While efforts in this area began well before 2014, in the various establishments that were to make up the University of Bordeaux, a review of the last ten years shows how far we have come, both in terms of formal commitment (reference documents, on the left and in beige on the timeline below) and in setting up dedicated teams and concrete actions (on the right and in blue).
