Strategy

The ambition to promote innovation translates to effectively using the results of research into excellence conducted in the University’s laboratories and on its platforms. The goal of the approach is to speed up social and technological progress while supporting the environmental transition. It also contributes to regional, national and European sovereignty.

A dedicated action plan

  • fuel cultural change by organising awareness-raising campaigns, detection measures and support initiatives, and even launching deeptech startups;
  • give free rein to people’s energy and minds by promoting and recognising the commitment shown by those who choose to invest in innovation, including by organising inspiring events;
  • make our ‘innovation campus’ more dynamic as a network of platforms, FabLabs, living labs, totem places, incubators, and business centres;
  • set up digital places to encourage networking and help create beautiful stories;
  • give consideration to socio-economic sectors to clarify their needs;
  • play our full part in the innovation chain, spread information about it, and give it value in the eyes of socio-economic players and local authorities;
  • expand and diversify the opportunities and partnership formats with the socio-economic world;
  • create – together with our partner institutions and affiliated companies – an effective and efficient collective organisation by focusing on talented people motivated by high-quality service centred on a results-driven culture in a way that makes French higher education and research less complex (the ‘no wrong door’ principle).

Our ambition goes beyond research – so that the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship is instiled in all University stakeholders (students, lecturers, administration staff) by ensuring that they receive the same level of service and recognition. When it comes to students, the idea is to prepare future generations for coming up with and building solutions to future challenges themselves.

Etienne Duguet, Vice-President in charge of innovation

By 2030, the University of Bordeaux hopes to be recognised for its innovation practices beyond its walls and focused on human beings. The University will have helped to make Nouvelle-Aquitaine more influential and more appealing and will have helped make the research and innovation system in France and in Europe more effective.
