International laboratories

The University of Bordeaux, together with the CNRS, Inserm and INRAE research bodies, encourages its research teams to participate in programmes such as the International Joint Laboratories scheme.

What's an International Joint Laboratory?

An International Joint Laboratory (Laboratoire International Associé - LIA) is a structured international collaboration in which a University of Bordeaux research team is associated with at least one other team from a foreign institution of higher education and research on a jointly-defined scientific project.

Associating their teams makes it possible to pool international human and material resources on a targeted scientific topic.

Euro-regional campus project

This LTC network also includes “LTC incubators”. This scheme aims to provide groups of researchers from the two universities (the University of Bordeaux and the University of the Basque Country) who are working on a shared research project with an initial boost to consolidate cross-border collaboration and thus lay the groundwork for a future competitive LTC application.
