A university in action for a world in transition

With a wealth of dedicated communities supporting numerous initiatives, the University of Bordeaux is implementing an ambitious policy to promote environmental and social change, which was drawn up in an initial roadmap in 2021 and a dedicated master plan in place since 2024.

Through a number of structural programmes that support this trajectory, including the ACT, InnovationS, ENLIGHT, SUNSET et RESET projects, the University of Bordeaux aims to set the standard for environmental and social change. The university’s aim is to take transformative action, both internally and in collaboration with its local and economic partners, to address the challenges of the environmental, social, economic and political crises of the Anthropocene. Each member of the community can play their part in bringing about these changes through individual or collective action, and find their place within this huge undertaking.

In recent years, the University of Bordeaux has therefore organised and equipped itself in a way that will allow it to manage these transformations. It now tracks a series of indicators, regularly calculate its carbon footprint and draws up an annual report on sustainable development goals, in order to highlight all the initiatives it has implemented with reference to the international standard set by the UN.
