With a Master degree in economics as an Erasmus student at the University of Bradford in England in 1999 and an Advanced Studies Diploma (DEA) in international finance and economics, Samuel Maveyraud defended his doctoral thesis in 2004 at University Montesquieu Bordeaux IV.

Following a post-doctorate at the University of Limoges as part of a European project, he was appointed lecturer at University Montesquieu Bordeaux IV in 2007, then professor at the University of Bordeaux in 2015.

Samuel Maveyraud got involved in education and took charge of the Economic and Financial Risk Engineering (IREF) Master degree programme, which was co-financed with University Bordeaux I and under agreement with Enseirb-Matmeca (in French) then the International Economics and Finance Magistère degree programme. In 2021, the Vice-President in charge of education, Sandrine Rui, invited him to create a "pilot" programme offering a personalised curriculum: the multidisciplinary cycle of higher education / the University of Bordeaux's "Science & Society" in partnership with the secondary school Lycée Michel de Montaigne in Bordeaux.

Eager to serve the academic community, Samuel Maveyraud became deputy director of the Economics, Management, Social and Economic Administration (AES) Training and Research Unit in 2010, then deputy director of the College of Law, Political Science, Economics and Management in charge of means in 2014. During that term, he worked on securing the budget for additional teaching hours and on building a multi-year investment plan to offer students and teachers better teaching conditions.

In 2018, he was elected director of the college and worked with his team to structure the programmes more effectively and to increase the college's resources, helped by the Contract of Objectives, Means and Service (COMS). Significant achievements during this mandate include transforming the higher education offer, developing apprenticeships and continuing education, creating a laboratory of cross-disciplinary skills, reorganising the admissions office with the aim of improving quality of life in the workplace and serving teachers and students.

Driven by the will to create conditions conducive to teamwork, with a view to jointly building decision-making  with researchers and lecturers, administrative staff and students, Samuel Maveyraud has also always been concerned with taking the issues of sustainable development and social responsibility into account in the training offer.

With the creation of this new cross-disciplinary scope, my mission is to find ways to increase and diversify the university's finances, while organising the management and flow of expenditure more effectively; the overall goal being to put resources at the service of teaching and research in keeping with the university's major projects, such as environmental and societal transitions and the quality of life at work.
